dc.description.abstractBu çalışma Fen Bilgisi öğretmen adaylarının bilim insanı farkındalıklarını belirlemeyi amaçlayan betimsel bir çalışmadır. Çalışmada tarama modeli kullanılmıştır. Çalışma grubunu, 2016-2017 eğitim-öğretim yılı bahar döneminde, Türkiye’de Ege Bölgesi’nde bir devlet üniversitesinde Fen Bilgisi Öğretmenliği Ana Bilim Dalında (1- 2-3-4. sınıf) öğrenim görmekte olan 165 öğretmen adayı oluşturmuştur. Öğretmen adaylarına sunulan veri toplama aracından elde edilen verilerin analizi sonucunda, bilim insanı farkındalık düzeyinin düşük olduğu söylenebilir. Verilen örnekler incelendiğinde bilim insanı ve bilime katkıları ile ilgili klişeleşmiş örneklerin verildiği görülmektedir. Öğretmen adaylarının, ders kitaplarında, medya da veya popüler kitaplarda yer alan örnekler verdikleri tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca öğretmen adaylarının bilim insanının bilime katkısı noktasında da aynı örnekler üzerinde durduğu görülmüştür. Çalışmanın dikkat çeken bir diğer sonucu ise Marie Curie’nin 165 öğretmen adayından sadece on altısı tarafından ifade edilmiş olmasıdır. Çalışma kapsamında elde edilen bir diğer sonuç ise öğretmen adaylarının bilim insanlarının bilime katkıları noktasında yanlış bilgilere de sahip olduğu yönündedir. Öğretmen adayları tarafından ifade edilen kırk altı bilim insanının sadece dördü Türk-İslam bilginlerinden oluşmaktadır.en_US
dc.description.abstractThis study is a descriptive study which aims at identifying pre-service science teachers’ awareness of scientists. Survey method was used in the study. The study group was composed of 165 pre-service teachers (1st,2nd,3rd ,and 4th grades) studying in the Department of Science Education in a state university located in Aegean Region in Turkey during 2016-2017 academic year. As a result of the analysis of the data obtained from the data collection tool given to the pre-service teachers, it can be stated that the level of awareness of scientists is low. When the examples given were examined, it was revealed that a list of cliché examples about the scientists and the contributions they made to science was given. It was determined that pre-service teachers gave most common examples from the text books, media, and popular books. Moreover, considering the contributions the scientists made to science, they focused on the same examples. Another interesting result that draws attention in the study is that out of 165 pre-service teachers, only 16 of them gave the name of Marie Curie. Still another result revealed in the study is that pre-service teachers have some wrong information about the contributions of the scientists to science. Out of the 46 scientists mentioned by the pre-service science teachers, only four of them are Turkish-Islamic scientistsen_US
