Abstract
Demiryolları tüm dünyada olduğu gibi, ülkemizdeki ulaşım sisteminin de başlangıç noktasını oluşturur. Osmanlı yöneticileri kurulacak demiryolu ağı ile askeri ve siyasi yönden güçlenmeyi hedeflerken ekonomik olarak da kalkınma sağlanacağına inanmışlar ve bu nedenle demiryolu yatırımlarına büyük önem vermişlerdir.İstasyon yapıları yapım tekniği ve malzemesinin yanında farklı bir mimariye de sahiptir. Çok küçük istasyon noktaları dışında, bütün istasyon alanlarında değişik amaçlara hizmet eden yapılar inşa edilmiştir. Ancak demiryolu teknolojisindeki gelişmelere bağlı olarak buharlı lokomotiflerin yerini dizel ve elektrikli lokomotifler almış; bununla birlikte karayolu taşımacılığındaki gelişmeler demiryollarına verilen önemi azaltmıştır. Neticede birçok demiryolu hattı ulaşıma kapanırken, bu hatlar üzerindeki istasyon yapıları da kullanım dışı kalmıştır. Halen ulaşımın sağlandığı hatlar üzerindeki istasyon yapılarının bir kısmı ise teknolojik gelişmelere bağlı olarak ya işlevlerini tümüyle kaybetmiş ya da yapılan yeni eklerle kullanımına devam edilmiştir. Bu istasyon yapıları yardımcı tesisleri ile birlikte bir dönemin demiryolu teknolojisini yansıtmaktadır. Dolayısıyla istasyon alanları korunarak gelecek nesillere en iyi şekilde aktarılmalıdır.Bu çalışma ile son yıllarda demiryolu taşımacılığının yok denecek kadar azaldığı Büyük Mandıra - Kırklareli demiryolu hattının uç noktasında bulunan Kırklareli istasyon yapılarının mevcut durumlarını ortaya koymak ve alandaki en önemli yapılardan birisi olan lokomotif deposuna yeni işlev önerileri geliştirmek amaçlanmıştır.
Like in the entire world, railways are the starting point of our country's communication system. Ottoman Empire administrators believed that economic development will be achieved through railway communication systems, besides gaining military and political power, and gave much importance to railway investments.Railway stations have a different architecture besides building technique and material. Exept for very small stations, buildings with various purposes have always been built in railway stations. Howewer, along with the developments in railway technology, steam locomotives were replaced by diesel and electrical ones. On the other hand, the developments in highway industry decreased the importance given to railways. As a result, many railways were closed and the stations on these lines were put out of use. Some of the stations that were still on the line have lost their function as a result of technological advancements, and some continued to be used after a series of new improvements. These station buildings, along with their adjunct facilities, reflect the railway technology of a certain period. Thus, station areas must be well protected and passed on the next generations.The aim of this study is to expose existing status of Kirklareli station buildings, lying on the frontier of Buyuk Mandira - Kirklareli railway line, which has lost its share of railway transportation in the recent years to a level of nearly nothing, and develop function suggestions for locomotive depot, one of the most important structures in the area.
