dc.description.abstractBu çalışmada, XIV. yüzyılın son çeyreğinde Osmanlı İmparatorluğu tarafından fethedilerek, XX. yüzyılın başlarına kadar yaklaşık 5-6 asır boyunca Osmanlı sınırları içerisinde kalan İştip kazasının genel olarak XVI. yüzyıldaki nüfusu ve etnik yapısı ele alınmış, ardından kısaca şehrin XIX ve XX. yüzyıldaki nüfusuyla ilgili bilgiler verildikten sonra göç konusuna değinilmiştir. Eski bir kaza merkezi olan İştip’in tarihi milattan önce 3. asra kadar uzanmaktadır. Osmanlı’dan önce şehir; Samuil Krallığı, Doğu Roma İmparatorluğu, Bulgar Devleti ve Sırp Krallığı gibi ülkelerin hâkimiyetinde kalmıştır. Tarihi süreçte nüfusu ve demografik yapısı birçok kez değişime uğrayarak günümüze ulaşmıştır. Osmanlı döneminde hâkimiyet Türklerin elinde iken, günümüzde Ortodoks Makedonların elindedir. XIX. yüzyılda Osmanlı İmparatorluğu coğrafyasında Üsküp sancağına bağlı önemli bir yerleşim merkezi olan İştip, günümüzde Kuzey Makedonya sınırları içerisinde yer almaktadır. Ekrem Hakkı Ayverdi’nin “Tekkeler ve Zaviyeler Şehri” diye andığı şehirde günümüzde mevcut az sayıdaki Osmanlı eseri adeta Devlet-i Âliyye’yi temsil etmekte, şehir merkezinde bir hayli azalan Türk varlığı mümkün olduğunca Osmanlı mirası tarihi eserlere sahip çıkmaya çalışmaktadır.en_US
dc.description.abstractThis article discusses the population and ethnicity of Štip district, which remained under Ottoman administration for approximately 5-6 centuries from its conquest by the Ottoman Empire in the late 16th century until the early 20th century. Subsequently, information has been provided regarding the population of the city in the 19th and 20th centuries, and the issue of migration has been addressed. The historical background of Štip dates back to the 3rd century BC, and it is known as an ancient distinct center. Before under Ottoman administration, İştip was under the dominion of the Samuil Kingdom, Byzantine Empire, the Bulgarian State, and the Serbian Kingdom. Throughout its history, its population and demographic structure underwent several changes, eventually leading to its present state. During its time under Ottoman administration, the district was controlled by the Turks, whereas today it is governed by Orthodox Macedonians. Štip had been an important settlement subjected to Skopje within the boundaries of the Ottoman Empire in the 19th century. Today, it is situated within the borders of North Macedonia. Despite its historical designation as “The City of Tekkes and Zaviyes” by Ekrem Hakkı Ayverdi, there are now relatively few Ottoman historical artifacts in the city. These structures continue to represent the Ottoman Empire's presence in the region. Today, a small number of Turks residing in the district center are making efforts to preserve these historical relics inherited from the Ottoman Empire.en_US
