Abstract
In this study, the aim is to determine the orientations of diffrent worker ants like Camponotus aethiops and Formica cunicularia to six different carbohydrate types (glucose, maltose, sucrose, melezitose, d-arabinose, d-sorbitol) in different concentrations. The data of nutrition time of ants in carbohydrates, the angles of advent to nutrient and ascent from nutrient and vector length was analysed. The data belonging to this species was collected between February and November 2012 in behavioral ecology laboratories of Touluse III-Paul Sabatier ( C. aethiops ) and Trakya Univesity (F. cunicularia ). The results revealed that sucrose was the most preferred carbohydrate in both two species regardless of concentration. Besides, it was found out that there wasn?t any relation between the angles of advent to nutrient and ascent from nutrient in both two species (except for 20% carbohydrate cpncentration for C. aethiops ) and the preferred carbohydrate. Although there isn?t any relation between vector length of ascent from nutrient in C. aethiops and the preferred carbohydrate , there is a relation between the preferred carbohydrates in %10 and %50 carhydrate concentration of F. cunicularia and vector length of ascent from nutrient.
