Özet
Osmanlılarda reayanın ve devletin önemli bir gelir kaynağı olanhayvancılık, tarımsal üretimden sonra gelen bir ekonomik faaliyet kolu olarakdikkati çekmektedir. Osmanlı Devleti'nde hayvancılığın temeli büyükbaş veküçükbaş hayvancılığa dayanmaktadır. Büyükbaş hayvancılık çift sürme ve nakliyeişlerinin vazgeçilmez bir unsuru olarak tarımsal üretime katkı sağlamaktadır. Küçükbaşhayvancılık ise vergi nedeniyle devletin önemli bir gelir kalemi, bazı imalatkolları için hammadde kaynağı ve halkın gıda ihtiyacının karşılandığı oldukçageniş bir tüketim alanı olarak varlık göstermektedir. Bu çalışmada, Osmanlı Dönemindeönemli bir ekonomik uğraş olan büyükbaş ve küçükbaş hayvancılık faaliyeti,İstanbul’un temel gıda ihtiyacını karşılayan başlıca yerlerden biri olanTekirdağ özelinden incelenmektedir. Tekirdağ’a özgü bu araştırmayla da OsmanlıDevleti’nin hayvancılık politikaları ve bu politikaların bölgesel yansımalarıtahlil edilmeye çalışılmaktadır.
Stockbreeding,which is an important source of income for themasses of the people and the state, is emerging as the most important branch ofeconomic activities after the grain production. Cattle and livestockbreeding are the basis of the stockbreeding activities for the economic life ofthe Ottoman Empire. Cattle breeding contributesto agricultural productionthrough animals which are indispensable fordouble riding and transportation activities and it also plays a decisive rolein the agricultural structure because of this contribution. Livestock breedingis an asset as an important source of revenue for the state due to taxes, rawmaterials for some manufacturing branches, and large production area whichmeets the consumption goods such as meat and milk. In this study, cattlelivestock breeding activities, considered as an important economic activityduring the Ottoman period, are examined in Tekirdağ, which is one of the mainplaces to meet the necessity of food of Istanbul. The stockbreeding politics ofthe Ottoman Empire and regional reflections of these policies are tried to beunderstood with the Tekirdağ-specific research,which was accepted as a pilot region in terms of agriculture and breedingduring the Ottoman period.
