abstract
This study was performed between the dates October 2014 – August 2015 at different inland ecosystems (lotic, lentic, and lagoon lakes) located in the provinces Edirne, Kırklareli and Tekirdağ at Turkish Thrace, and the bacterial distribution of the ecosystems and some environmental variables which can effected on their distribution was investigated at the same sampling time, periodically. The distribution of total heterotrophic, total coliform and faecal coliform bacteria, and Escherichia coli bacteria in the water column and the sediment of different ecosystems was analysed as compared. Also, seasonal samplings were made in some localities to compare the vertical and horizontal distribution of bacteria in the lotic and lentic ecosystems. While the Bray-Curtis similarity index and Correspondence Analyse were used to determine the similarities between the sampling stations, the Spearman correlation index were applied to the data to determine the correlation between the bacterial distribution and the environmental features. According to this, it was found meaningful correlations between the bacterial counts and some physicochemical features (p<0.05), and it was done some suggestions to provide sustainable usage for the inland waters which are used for irrigation and tap water in the region, and to prevent the ecosystems of lagoon lakes located near the Gala Lake National Park.
