Özet
20. yüzyılın en tanınmış İngiliz bestecilerinden biri olan Malcolm Arnold (1921- 2006), senfoni, bale, opera, konçerto ve film müziği gibi çeşitli türlerde birçok eser bestelemiştir. İlgi çekici müziğinin ardında karmaşık bir kişilik vardır. Birçok eserinde, komedi ve trajedi, coşku ve çaresizlik gibi zıt duyguları bir arada kullanmıştır. Duygusal hayatında yaşadığı gelgitleri fazlasıyla müziğine yansıtan Arnold’un, 1966 yılında bestelemiş olduğu Op.88 Fantasy for Horn adlı eseri solo korno repertuvarında oldukça önemli bir yere sahiptir. Bu çalışmada, özellikle 20. yüzyılın ikinci yarısında İngiltere’de önemli bir yere sahip olan Malcolm Arnold’un, yaşamı ve besteci kimliği hakkında bilgi verilmiştir. Ayrıca korno icracıları tarafından sıkça seslendirilen Op. 88 Fantasy for Horn eseri, müzikal ve teknik detaylarıyla incelenmiştir. Bu çalışmanın korno icracılarına teknik ve müzikal açıdan yol göstermesi amaçlanmıştır.
Malcolm Arnold (1921-2006), one of the famous 20th-century British composers, was composed many works in a variety of genres such as symphony, ballet, opera, concerto, and movie music. A complex personality underlies his engaging music. In many of his works, he was blended contrasting emotions such as comedy and tragedy, enthusiasm and desperation. Arnold reflected his hesitations in his emotional life into his music too much and his work entitled Op.88 Fantasy for Horn that he composed in 1966 has a very important place in the horn solo repertoire. This study provides information about the life and composer personality of Malcolm Arnold, who had occupied a unique position in Britain especially in the second half of the 20th century. Also, his work entitled Op.88 Fantasy for Horn, which was frequently performed by horn players, was musically and technically analyzed. This paper aims to guide horn players both musically and technically.
