In this direction, in order to prepare the students for the occupational environment, alterations have been made in architecture education program as well and lectures comprising digital technologies have been included. Digital technologies are being used in architecture education not only in presentation and visualization fields, but also as a design supporting the creation and expression of creative design. Therefore, search for new methods for creative design and communication in architecture education has become a necessity. Parametric design, the leading method of the new methods in which digital technologies are commonly used in architecture education in these days, involves all designing movements that enable renewal of the design by changing a series of parameters at any stage of the design. The thing that changes in the parametric design is rather the parameters that constitute the form, not the form itself. Changes in the parameters that have impact on the design affect the final product and as a result, different design alternatives are introduced. In parametric design, design is based on specific parameters and is made with the help of parametric modelling. In this study, effect of the parametric design on architecture education is examined. Within the content of the study, architecture students who have never used parametric design principles in architecture education were given 6 hours of parametric design training. Parametric design principles were explained to the students within the training program and they were asked to create a cover coat based on the parameters in design processes with the aid of a computer. As a result, it is thought that with the usage of parametric design in architecture education, students will be provided advantages in producing different design combinations through the models they design, increasing their senses of three dimensional thought by using computer aided design tools and developing creative designs. © Peter Lang GmbH Internationaler Verlag der Wissenschaften Berlin 2021 All rights reserved.eninfo:eu-repo/semantics/closedAccessArchitecture Education; Digital Technologies; Parameter; Parametric Design; Parametric Design EducationParametric Design in Architecture EducationBook Chapter931022-s2.0-85179282335N/A
