Türk tarihinin söz konusu mühim dönüm noktasının sosyalist ideoloji etrafında yorumlandığı eserde Millî Mücadele destanî bir üslûpla yüceltilir. İşgalin yaşandığı İstanbul ile mücadelenin mekânı olan olarak oluşturulan Anadolu’ya dair imajların bolluğu şiiri, edebî eserdeki mekânı coğrafya olarak tanımlayan coğrafya merkezli okumalara elverişli hâle getirmiştir. Söz konusu coğrafyayı yaşamaktan ziyade öğrenmek suretiyle bulan şair, ele aldığı mekânları belirli tiplerin varlık nedeni olarak yorumlar. Diğer bir deyişle Millî Mücadele mekânları eserde, coğrafyanın tesir ettiği insanları oluşturur. Mücadele, coğrafyanın ürünü olan bu şahısların macerası olarak cereyan eder. Söz konusu şahıslar; ihanetin mekânı olan İstanbul’da ve mücadelenin mekânı olan Anadolu’da yaşarlar. İşgal kuvvetleriyle onların Türklere karşı savaştırdığı köleler ise uzak coğrafyaların insanlarıdırlar.Kuvayi Milliye poems by Nazım Hikmet have a great importance in the Literature on Independence War. This works, which describes this important milestone in Turkish history with a socialist ideology, glorifies Independence War with an epical language. The wealth of images between İstanbul where the occupation is experienced and Anatolia - the place of battle - make the poem eligible for the readings focused on geographic approach to texts which portrays the place of literary work as geography. Poet chooses learning the aforementioned geography rather than experiencing it and describes there as the reason for specific characters to exist. In other words, the places of Independence War creates the people influenced by this geography. This battle happens as an adventure of people who lives in that geography. These characters live in the place of betrayal, İstanbul, and the place of struggle,Anatolia.
