İkinci bölümde, Balkan Savaşlarıyla Selanik’in Yunanistan’a verilmesi ve böylelikle daha Mübadele başlamadan birçok insanın özellikle İzmir ve İstanbul’a doğru göç etmeye başlaması ele alınmıştır. Üçüncü bölümde ise, Mübadele konusu araştırılmış, göç sırasında göçmenlerin yaşadığı sıkıntılar, hastalıklar, yerleştirilmeleri ve yeni taşındıkları ülkeye katkıları incelenmiştir. Son bölümde, Yunan Basınında Lozan ve Mübadele konusu incelenmiş ve belgelerle sunulmuştur.
In Lausanne, one of the “Convention[s] and Protocol[s] Relating to the Greek – Turkish Population Exchange” was signed between Turkey and Greece on January 30, 1923, the other, more comprehensive Peace Treaty was ratified on July 23, 1923. This study also deals with subjects concerning the forced exchange of Greek – Orthodox Turkish nationalities living on Turkish grounds, except for Istanbul, Bozcaada and Gokceada, with Muslim Greek nationalities which live in Greek lands, except the Western Thrace part of Greece. The study focuses on the relocation, placement and adaptation to the new country of the migrants who were sent from Thessaloniki to Izmir. The first part of this thesis is about the regions, jobs and lifestyles of Muslims, Christians and Jews who settled in Thessaloniki long before the Population Exchange. The second part discusses the fact that Thessaloniki was given to Greece due to the Balkan Wars and that hence many people had started migrating to Izmir and Istanbul before the Exchange even started. The third part represents a research about the Exchange, the problems of migrants during the process of their immigration, the diseases they suffered, their placement and contributions to the country they newly moved to. İn the last part of this thesis, Lausanne and the Exchange, as they were treated in the Greek press, are examined and illustrated with the help of respective documents.
