Determination of some agricultural characters in field pea (Pisum arvense L.) lines at Tekirdag (Turkey) ecological conditions

dc.description.abstractThe aim of this study was to determine the yield and some agricultural characters of seven field pea lines. The lines were evaluated with pure-line selection. Morphological characters such as main stem length (cm), number of branches per plant, leaf length (cm), leaf weight (g), leaf/stem ratio, pods/main stem and seeds/pod as well as agricultural green fodder yield (t ha(-1)), dry matter yield (t ha-1), seed yield (t ha(-1)), crude protein (%), protein yield (t ha(-1)) were investigated in Tekirdag (Turkey) during 1997-1999 under dry conditions. The experimental design was a randomized complete block with three replicates. Protein yield (1.33 t ha(-1)), green fodder yield (27.76 t ha(-1)), dry matter yield (7.34 t ha(-1)) and grain yield (2.67 t ha(-1)) of candidate varieties 16-DY and 16-K were determined to be higher than other lines. According to yield and yield components, the 16-DY and 16-K lines were found to be promising.en_US
