Özet
A new collector, bentonite modified by the addition of trioctyl phosphine oxide, was developed for the separation and preconcentration of chromium, zinc and copper prior to flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS). The above metals are quantitatively retained on a column filled with the proposed adsorbent at pH 6.0 and completely eluted with 1 mol/L of nitric acid. An important advantage of the new collector are low blank values and recoveries were 99.4%, 98.2% and 97.6% for chromium, zinc and copper, respectively, with relative standard deviations of 1.0-5.0%. Detection limits (3sigma) were 1.3 mugL(-1) for Cr, 1.7 mugL(-1) for Zn and 2.1 mugL(-1) for Cu and elements studied can be used reliably determined in the presence of Mg+, K+ and Na+. Finally, the modified method was used for the analysis of the elements in wastewaters.
