dc.description.abstractThis is the first study in which gynoeceum, megasporogenesis, megagametogenesis and female gametophyte of Gagea villosa were examined cytologically and histologically by using light microscopy techniques. Ovules of G. villosa are of anatropous, bitegmic and tenuinucellate type. Inner integument forms the micropyle. Embryo sac development is of bisporic Endymion type. Polar nuclei fuse before fertilization to form a secondary nucleus near the antipodals.en_US
