Our aim in this study is to investigate the knowledge and awareness of family physicians working in the family health centers in Edirne about travel health. Our study was applied to 117 family physicians, who worked as family physicians in family health centers in Edirne between 20 January 2022 and 20 March 2022, and agreed to participate in the study, using face-to-face interview technique. In this descriptive and crosssectional study, data were collected by applying a questionnaire consisting of 16 questions containing sociodemographic characteristics and personal information to the participants and 21 questions about various issues of travel medicine prepared by the researchers by scanning the literature. Of the participants 41.9% (n=49) were female the mean age of the participants was 46.05±7.90 years. The main source of knowledge for most physicians about travel health was the internet 64.1% and the medical school 52.1%. 66.7% of the participants in our study provided pre-travel health advice. While 37.6% of the participants thought that their knowledge on travel health was sufficient, it was determined that 30.7% did not find the level of knowledge on this subject sufficient. A statistically significant relationship was found between the participants' previous travel health consultancy and the number of questions they answered correctly from the knowledge questionnaire. There was no statistically significant difference between the physicians' gender, marital status, working time as a family physician, their status of receiving specialty training, having traveled abroad, and finding their level of knowledge about travel health sufficient and their correct answers to the knowledge questions. It has been determined that the level of knowledge of physicians on some issues related to travel health is not sufficient. Increasing the importance given to travel health in medical school and family medicine specialty education will help to eliminate the deficiencies in this subject and will contribute to preventive health services, one of the most important principles of family medicine.
