Özet
Enez is located on the southwest part of Edirne with the Aegean sea on the west, Kesan on the east, the Saroz gulf on the south and Ipsala and Greece on the north. The center of the town was built in the ancient times as a Greek colony. The name of Enez comes from a Greek princess called 'Eneyaz'. The town was under the sovereignty of the Roman Empire, Byzantium, Geneose, Ottoman Empire, Russia and Greece in order. The town was included in the Turkish Republic borders after the 1922. Enez is an antique town with its castle, Turkish-islamic cemetery and the other historical-cultural remainings. Besides its cultural and historical richness it has several natural beauties. The town is important by its sea, lake and mountain ecosystems. The Meric river, which flows from the Balkans forms a wide delta and combines with the sea in Enez. Tasaltu, Bucurmene, and Dalyan lagoons with their rich fish flora, the Gala lake which is a National Park with its bird fauna, and the Hisarli mountain with its rich flora and fauna form the landscape potentiality of the town. The entrance of the foreign tourists to the town was forbidden for long years because of its geographical location. This inhibition limited the tourism activities with native tourists and this caused an increase in the number of secondary houses in the coastal zone. Besides, the domestic and industrial contamination and the pollution caused by the agricultural activities are the most important environmental problems of the town. These negative factors cause degradation in nature and damage the natural balances. In this study the importance of Enez with its location and landscape potentiality was underlined. As a conclusion several proposals are made to maintain the sustainability of recreational potentiality over conservation process.
