dc.description.abstractIn this study, we aimed to analyze the empathic tendency of pre-school pre-service teachers in terms of the variables as gender, age, grade, the type of high school they graduated, educational status and occupation of parents, number of children in family, number of friends, the place they live in during their education, the number of people they live together, choosing their department willingly, their choosing the people they share their problems. The study group included the students studying at a state university's Faculty of Education, Pre-School Teaching Department. To measure emphatic tendencies, "Personal Information Form" including the personal information of pre-service teachers and "Emphatic Tendency Scale" developed by Dökmen (1988) were used. T-test for differentiation of emphatic tendency scores according to demographical features, one-way ANOVA test and LSD as the post hoc technique were performed. As result of the research, whereas pre-service teachers were found to have no significant difference according to age, marital status, grade, the type of high school they graduated, educational status and occupation of parents and number of children in family, they were found to have significant difference according to gender, choosing their department willingly, grade, number of friends, the place they live in (p< 05). © IDOSI Publications, 2014.en_US
