S: Our aim was to investigate the relations between cervical lesions and contraception type, smoking, parity, age and hormone replacement therapy (HRT). STUDY DESIGN: A total of 306 patients infertile and menopausal ages were included in the study. After patients' histories about the contraception method, smoking, parity, age, hormone replacement therapy (HRT) use were taken we have obtained cervical smears for cytological examinations. Thereafter colposcopic investigations were applied to all the patients. In women with abnormal colposcopic findings, Pap smear results or cervical lesions we applied cervical punch biopsies. Data were analyzed with chi-square, Fisher's exact and Spearman correlation tests. RESULT(s): Mean+SD age was 43.57±7.61 years in women with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) I. We found significant correlation between CIN I and smoking (p=0.03, r=0.123), between chronic cervicitis and parity (p<0.05) and between ectopia and oral contraceptive use (p=0.002). The correlation between the existence of cervical ectopia and HRT use did not reach to statistical significance (p=0.06). CONCLUSION(s): Our results are in line with previous studies. Further studies should be done to gain more insight for the possible relation of some risk factors in cervical lesions in our population.en_US
