Şirince is an old Greek village inhabited by Orthodox Christians, which was under Ottoman rule in the 19th century. The history and location of Şirince have become important because of its proximity to St. Jean's Basilica, the House of Virgin Mary, and Ephesus. Until the 20th century, many changes were made in the name of this small village settlement and then the name of the village was decided as Şirince. The fact that Şirince is located in nature and that its fields and gardens come to the present day in a unique way without the need for outside due to the productivity of has prevented unplanned urbanization and modern industry from visiting here. Şirince, which looks like a painting when viewed from afar, has become the center of attention for tourists, with its small shops, wine cellars, tiered houses, and narrow streets, as well as churches from the Greeks. Actually, there were three churches in Şirince, but today one of them has been lost. Although there was a small village settlement in this period, the existence of these churches shows the devotion of the living people to their religion. When we compare the decorations in the church with the churches in Selçuk and its surroundings, they are extremely original. After the population exchange, Şirince became a Turkish settlement and the function of one of the churches was changed. Over time, the structures have suffered human and natural damage and therefore necessary restoration works have been carried out. When we look at the current situation of the churches, there should be a rescue effort again. The settlement of Şirince, which is now a neighborhood, continues to earn most of its livelihood from tourism. Key Words: Byzantium, Şirince, Church, İzmir, Western Anatolia
