Özet

Agenesis of ductus venosus (DV) is a rare vascular abnormality. Here, we report a case of DV agenesis associated with gastrointestinal and skeletal system abnormalities. The patient was referred due to polyhydramnios, and on ultrasonographic evaluation besides polyhydramnios, esophageal atresia and single umbilical artery were also found. DV was not detected and it was observed that umbilical vein drained directly to the inferior vena cava. Hemivertebra and normal karyotype were also detected postnatally in the newborn who was delivered prematurely. Although the baby did not develop any cardiovascular complications the baby died because of bronchopulmonary dysplasia on postpartum 71st day. Agenesis of DV is an important issue that should be paid attention in prenatal screening. The prognosis is worse in patients with agenesis of DV in which umbilical vein drains directly to inferior vena cava via extrahepatic way especially due to associated anomalies.
