Özet
Bu çalışmayla hedeflenen, antik kaynakların, epigrafik malzemenin ve bilimsel çalışmanın derlenmesi ve böylelikle Bilecik üzerine bir ham tarihi-coğrafya yazımının ortaya çıkartılmasıdır. Çalışma, Bilecik ilinin günümüz il sınırları içindeki bütün bölgeyi kapsamaktadır. Bu amaç doğrultusunda, bugüne dek genel tarih kapsamında ele alınan bölge, var olan verilerin yardımıyla özellikle M.Ö. 6. yüzyıldan Roma İmparatorluk Dönemi sonuna kadar gelişen süreç içinde değerlendirilmiştir. Bölgenin tarihi dışında yazıtların değerlendirilmesiyle birlikte ilk kez yerli halkın etnik özellikleri, bölgenin sosyo-politik, sosyo-ekonomik ve sosyo-kültürel yapısı tek bir çalışma altında derlenmiş, bölgede daha önce çalışılan Roma yollarına dair yeni öneriler sunulmuştur.

The aim of this study is to reveal a clear history-geography of Bilecik through the compilation of ancient sources, epigraphical data and scientific work. The study includes all the area within the borders of present Bilecik province. For this purpose, the area which has been undertaken as a part of the general history so far, with the help of existing data evaluated in a process that starts by the 6th century B.C. and completes in the end of the Roman Imperial Period. Apart from the regional history, the ethnic characteristics of indigenous population, the socio-political, socio-economic and socialcultural structure of the region have been collected in a single study for the first time by evaluating the inscriptions. Also new recommendations on previously studied Roman roads are presented in this study.
