Özet
Pharmacogenomics is a young field which uses genetic information to predict drug treatment response. Genes that are involved in the pathogenesis of psychiatric disorders and that influence drug treatment response have been the focus of investigation recently and candidate genes and their variants have been identified. The rapidly developing molecular genetic techniques contributed the advance in this field. At present, psychiatric treatment is based on a trial-and-error paradigm and therefore practiced empirically. Pharmacogenomic knowledge of psychiatric treatments will improve outcome by determining most beneficial drug according to the individual's genetic information. Data to date on psychopharmacogenomics is reviewed in this article.
