Özet
Chronic urticaria is defined as an urticaria type that consists of lesions that have continued every day or almost every day for at least for 6 weeks. These lesions last long and effect patient's standard of living; limited results of researches intended for etiology in most cases create difficulty for both patient and physician. When we eliminate chronic urticarias the underlying cause is determined, physical urticarias and urticarial vasculitis, remaining cases include 45% of autoimmune urticaria and 55% of chronic idiopathic urticaria. As the knowledge related to role of autoimmune mechanisms in pathogenesis increases, contribution of complement system to the auto antibody-induced mast cell and basophil degranulation was introduced. Some recent studies claimed that intracellular signal conduction defects are responsible for low or high response to various stimulants in basophils and extrinsic coagulation system activation detected by increased levels of prothrombin fragment, D-dimer and FVIIa in these patients' serum plays role in chronic urticaria pathogenesis. In this paper, factors taking place in chronic urticaria etiology and mechanisms taking role in pathogenesis discussed in connection with the new literature knowledge.
