An Investigation of Information and Communication Technologies Acceptance and Technopedagogical Education Competencies of High School Teachers

Özet

The aim of the study is to investigation of information and communication technologies acceptance and technopedagogical education competencies of high school teachers. The sample of the study consists of 317 high school teachers working in public schools governed by the Provincial Directorate of Education in Edirne in the 2020-2021 academic year. While the relational screening method, which is one of the quantitative research methods, was used in the study, descriptive statistics, independent samples t-test, one-way variance (ANOVA) analysis, correlation analysis and regression analysis were used in the analysis of the data. According to the findings obtained from the study, teachers in the sample have shown a “high” level of technology acceptance, while technopedagogical education competencies have been found to be “moderate”. The analyses carried out in the context of independent variables have shown that gender, years of computer use, in-service training status and level of technology use lead to significant differences in terms of technology acceptance. In terms of technopedagogical education competencies; the independent variables years of computer use and level of technology use have been shown to be associated with significant differences in scores. The study has also revealed that there exists a moderate level positive and statistically significant correlation between technology acceptance and technopedagogical education competencies of high school teachers. The simple linear regression analysis has shown that high school teachers’ technope-dagogical education competencies were a variable that predicted technology acceptance and explained 40.3% of the total variance regarding technology acceptance. © 2023
