Özet
45 anesthesia staff (15 specialists, 15 residents and 15 nurse anesthetists) working in Haydarpasa Numune Education and Research Hospital, were given a questionnaire about the costs of 25 anesthetic drugs, fluids and disposable materials. The estimation was acceptable if the given price was within ± 20 % of the correct cost. The same group of staff were questioned a month later without given any information in order to realize if they were interested in the prices. In both of the questionnaires, nobody was able to estimate all of the prices correctly. In the first study 19.7 % of the specialists, 20.2 % of the residents and 17.6% of the nurse anesthetists we able to estimate correctly. The results of the second study revealed the following ratios for correct estimation: 27.2% for the specialists, 17.8 % for the residents and 21.8% for the nurse anesthetists. The results showed that we were anaware of the prices of the materials which we used daily; and besides we were not ever curious of them. It should be emphasized that, in a developing country like ours, the preferral of the materials in anesthesiology should be made in according to the patients' physical status, as well as the prices.
