Abstract
Bu dönemde meydana gelen 1826 Vak‘a-i Hayriyye ve hemen akabinde Asâkir-i Mansûre-i Muhammediyye ordusunun kuruluşu hadiseleri, oluşları ve sonuçları açısından son derece önemlidir.

The 19. Century was named by some historians as "the longest century" of the Ottoman Empire. The 1826 "Vak‘a-i Hayriyye" and the consequent establishment of the "Asâkir-i Mansûre-i Muhammediyye" army, both happening in the aforementioned century, are very important events due to their occurrences and consequences. The memoir of Kolağası Ârif Ağa (Ârif Mehmed Paşa), whose text is the subject of my study, is noteworthy because of the information it provides about the period in which those events occured. Ârif Mehmed Paşa, whose biography is given in addition to the text of his memoir, is an important statesman who served as the governor of Damascus, Erzurum and Edirne. His being witness to the Tanzîmat and Islahat periods increases the importance of studies about him. In addition to his official duties, Ârif Paşa is a poet and artist, who pioneered European style painting with his figurative works. This study aims to present the memoir of Ârif Paşa to the benefit of the scientific world.
