From past to present, emotions and art have been in close relationship. By their nature, artists, while performing their art, are influenced by cultural heritage and internal factors that include their own psychology, while they are also under the influence of external factors, including the characters and experiences of the people around them. This work, which was carried out, discussed the temperament and works of artists named Vincent Van Gogh and Edvard Munch, who were among the important painters of the period. In the study, it is aimed to reveal the originality created by the reflections of the psychological background of the artists in their works. In the study, which aims to emphasize the role of psychological disorders in arousing, shaping and changing art and human emotions, it has been revealed that psychology and its relationship with art play a larger role in the symbolic works of artists. As long as art has existed, artists have benefited from the positive mental and physical effects of art on health. When evaluated in this context, it is stated that art has many therapeutic and mood-enhancing effects such as reducing anxiety, lowering stress levels, increasing confidence and instilling a sense of purpose. Many different clinical studies in the literature have found evidence that art is beneficial to people suffering from PTSD, bipolar disorder, stroke, and cancer pain. Despite the clearly beneficial effects of art-related creativity, artists are reported to suffer from conditions such as depression, bipolar disorder and schizophrenia at a much higher rate than the general population. However, in this study, in addition to other studies in the literature, the positive point of view that the originality and creativity arising between this goal-means relationship increases the depth and effectiveness of the products, as well as the artists may have used the works of art to increase their emotional well-being. As a method in the study, literature review was used on foreign and domestic sources in parallel with each other and it was aimed to present an additional reinforcing study to existing academic approaches.
