In the closed-die forging operations, forging sequence becomes increasingly complex as the shape complexity of the forged part increases. Since this type of parts can be forged in two or more steps, the preform design becomes important. With this aim in this study, the effects of the shape difficulty factors of the forging parts and billet dimensions on the forging loads and the filling were investigated experimentally. For the prediction of the forging loads, two approaches were applied to the experimental data using computer facilities and the results were compared with the measured loads.en_US
