| dc.description.abstract | Bu çalışmada, Roman Kimliğinin algılanma sürecinde; Kimlik, sosyal dışlanma, yoksulluk ve sosyal algı kavramları arasındaki ilişki ele alınmaktadır. Toplumda genel olarak yoksulluk etiketi ile Roman kimliği etiketinin içiçe geçtiği görülmektedir. Roman mahallesinde yaşasın ya da yaşamasın Roman kimliğine sahip birinin yaşadığı ayrımcılık benzerdir. Roman olan bir kişinin toplum gözünde Roman mahallesinde yaşadığı ve yoksul olduğu kanaatine varılmaktadır. Bu durum sosyal dışlanmayı etkilemektedir. Roman Kimliği ile örtüşen yoksulluk Romanlara karşı dışlama, önyargı ve damgalamayı tetiklemektedir. Bunun yanında yoksul mahalle algısı aynı zamanda Roman kimliğine sahip olan kişilerin suçlu ve tehlikeli kişiler olarak görülmesinde de etkilidir. Roman olmak suç işlemeyi etkileyen unsurlardan biri olarak algılanmakta, bu durum tüm Romanların suçlu olarak görülmesine neden olmaktadır. Roman olmak, suç işlemek için tek başına bir neden olarak görülmektedir. Romanların yaşadığı mekanların sosyo-ekonomik koşulları, kültürleri, demografik yapıları, konut özellikleri birbirinden farklı olmasına rağmen Romanlara yönelik algılar her Roman için aynı kalmaktadır. Romanların yoksul olduğunun düşünülmesi ve yoksulluğun suç ile özdeştirilmesi bu önyargıları etkilemektedir. Bu çalışmada, Roman Kimliğine yüklenen etiketler yoksulluk ve dışlanma kavramları vasıtasıyla incelenecektir. Bu çalışma Türkiye’de ve Edirne’de Roman kimliğine sahip olmanın yanında yoksulluk ve sosyal dışlanma kavramın Roman kimliğiyle nasıl içiçe geçtiğini ve Roman kavramının sosyal kimlik olarak algılama sürecini nasıl etkilediğini ortaya koymayı hedeflemektedir. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | In this thesis, the link between the ideas of identity, social exclusion, poverty, and social perception is addressed in the process of Romani identity perception. In general, the labels of poverty and Roma identity are considered as being intrinsically tied. Whether a Roma individual lives in a Roma area or not, they are subjected to the same prejudice. A Romani person is thought to dwell in a Roma area and is destitute, according to society. Social exclusion results from this condition. Exclusion, prejudice, and stigma towards Roma are triggered by the link of Roma identity with poverty. Furthermore, the perception of poor neighbourhoods leads to the view of Romani people as criminals and dangerous individuals. Being a Roma is viewed as one of the characteristics that influences committing a crime, leading to the perception that all Roma are criminals. Being Romani is considered a sufficient motivation to commit a crime. Despite the fact that the socioeconomic conditions, cultures, demographic patterns, and housing characteristics of the regions where the Roma live varies, the perceptions of the Roma are universal. These stereotypes are influenced by the perception of the Roma as poor and the association of poverty with crime. The labels associated with Romani identity will be studied in this study using the notions of poverty and exclusion. This research intends to show how poverty and social exclusion are interwoven with Roma identity in Turkey and Edirne, as well as how the concept of Roma influences the perception process as a social identity. | en_US |
