Özet
Many children with cerebral palsy have difficulties in oral-motor control. Oral sensorimotor therapy can help to improve functioning of the oral structures. In addition to other therapeutic approaches, intraoral appliances can be used for sensorimotor therapy. The Innsbruck Sensorimotor Activator and Regulator (ISMAR) is one of the appliances used for oral sensorimotor therapy. The aim of this study was to describe the appliance and report a patient using ISMAR. A child experiencing problems as a result of incompetent oral functions was given an ISMAR appliance. The ISMAR therapy was applied by a dentist and a physiotherapist. The Functional Feeding Assessment Scale (FFAm) was used to assess feeding competence before and after ISMAR. At the end of the study, it was seen that oral-motor skills following sensorimotor intervention using ISMAR were improved.
