Özet
Azerbaycan'da Çarlık Rusya'dan beri süre gelen baskı politikası Bolşevik Devrimle de devam etmiştir. Başlangıçta gizli örgütlenen aydın kesim 1917 devrimiyle birlikte faaliyetlerini gün yüzüne çıkarmıştır. Azerbaycan halkının milli kimliğine dönüş çalışmaları Mehmet Emin Resulzade'nin kurduğu Müsavat Partisiyle birlikte bir siyasi kimlik kazanmıştır.1917 İhtilali Azerbaycan'ın siyasi hayatında bir yükselme dönemi olmuş, aydınların faaliyetlerinin filiz verdiği ihtilal dönemi sonrası 1918 yılında Azerbaycan Demokratik Cumhuriyeti kurulmuş fakat devlet kısa ömürlü olmuştur. 1920 yılında XI. Kızıl Ordunun Bakü'ye girmesiyle birlikte Azerbaycan halkı birçok bölgede direniş sergilemiş bu direnişler Bolşevik İktidar tarafından sürgünler ve idamlarla bastırılmıştır. Devletin ilhakından sonra başta Resulzade ve Mirza Bala olmak üzere aydınların muhaceret hayatı başlamış, böylece Azerbaycan'daki direnişin fikri aşaması aydınlar tarafından basın yayın yoluyla yürütülmeye çalışılmıştır.
