Çalışmaya katılan tip 2 diyabetli bireylerin %69,3’ü kadın, %70 ‘i evli, %65,7’si ev hanımı, %82,1’i ilkokul mezunu olup %58,6’sının gelirinin giderine denk olduğu saptanmıştır, %6,4’ü son 1 ay içinde ciddi hipoglisemi deneyimlemiştir.
This descriptive and cross-sectional study was planned to evaluate the adherence to treatment and fear of hypoglycemia in individuals with type 2 diabetes receiving insülin therapy. The study was conducted with 140 individuals with a diagnosis of type 2 diabetes who applied to the internal medicine outpatient clinic of a state hospital between November 2019 and February 2020. Data were collected with the “Patient Information Form”, “Hypoglycemia Fear Scale (HSS)” and “Patient Adherence to Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Treatment Scale”. SPSS 23.0 program was used to evaluate the data. p<0,05 was accepted as the statistical significance limit. Of the individuals with type 2 diabetes who participated in the study, 69,3% were women, 70% were married, 65,7% were housewives, 82,1% were primary school graduates, and 58,6% of them were found to have an income equal to their expenses. Of the individuals who had experienced severe hypoglycemia in the last one month was 6,7%. It was determined that the hypoglycemia fear levels of the individuals were low and their compliance with the treatment was moderate. In this study, it was determined that individuals with diabetes made fewer lifestyle changes as their hypoglycemia fear, anxiety and prevention behaviors towards hypoglycemia increased. There was no significant relationship between hypoglycemia fear, worry and prevention behaviors of individuals with type 2 diabetes and their compliance with treatment. It is recommended that patients with type 2 diabetes should be regularly educated about diabetes and its complications, as well as evaluating compliance with treatment and fear of hypoglycemia.
