Özet
Spasticity is a common complication in patients with stroke. Spasticity can significantly interfere with the ability to perform daily activities and reduce quality of life. The treatment of post stroke spasticity is typically multimodal, involving physical and occupational therapies in combination with splinting, oral antispasticity medications or local chemodenervation agents. Botulinum toxin injection as one of the local agents is a safe and effective procedure in the treatment of focal spasticity with stroke patients. Phenol and alcohol are also used for the treatment of focal spasticity. This article will summarize the knowledge about botulinum toxin, phenol and alcohol blocks which have been used for local treatment of spasticity in stroke.
