| dc.description.abstract | Modernleşme kavramı genel anlamda Batı’nın gerçekleştirdiği sanayi ve teknoloji anlamındaki ilerlemenin, Batı dışında kalan devletlerce takip edilmesi ve örnek alınması olarak ifade edilebilir. Özellikle konumuz açısından modernleşme kavramı, Osmanlı Devleti’nin Karlofça Muahedesi’nden sonra Batı’nın ilerlemesini kabul ettiğinin ve gerileme sebeplerine çözüm olarak Batı’nın örnek alınması gerektiğinin karşılığı olarak ele alınmaktadır. Bu bağlamda Osmanlı Devleti’nde III. Ahmet Devri ile birlikte başlayan Batı ile temaslar, devletin bundan sonraki süreçte geleceğini etkileyecek olan bir takım gelişmelere sebebiyet verecektir. Devlet eliyle Batı örnek alınarak uygulanmaya çalışılan reformlar, çıkarları tehlikeye giren ve “gelenek” çatısı altında birleşen grupların engelleriyle sonuçsuz kalmıştır. III. Selim Dönemi ile birlikte ilk ciddi reform hareketlerinin başarısızlıkla sonuçlanmasının ardından II. Mahmut reformları devletin kaderini değiştirmiş ve ardından Tanzimat reformları modernleşmenin gelişimi için uygun ortamı sağlamıştır. İdari, askeri, ekonomik ve toplumsal alanlarda modernleşme yolunda önemli adımlar atılmış; eşitlik, özgürlük, millîyetçilik, demokrasi gibi kavramlar devletin nüfuzuna intikal etmiştir. Neticede meşrutî yönetimlerin ilanı ile birlikte modernleşme kanalları açılmış ve Osmanlı modernleşme tarihi geçmiş dönemlerine nazaran çok daha geniş bir alana yayılma fırsatı yakalamıştır. Özellikle II. Meşrutiyet Dönemi’nde eğitim alanında yaşanan canlılık modernleşmenin ders kitaplarına yansımasına sebep olmuştur. Bu dönemde yazılan tarih ders kitapları, devletin aslında kendisine nasıl baktığını ifade etmekte ve bize Osmanlı modernleşme tarihi hakkında önemli ipuçları sunmaktadır. | en_US |
| dc.description.abstract | The term modernisation can generally be explained as following the example of western industrial and technological development by the non-western countries. When it comes to our topic, modernisation is seen as accepting the development of the West and taking it as an example by the Ottoman Empire after the Treaty of Karlowitz. In this context, the contact with the West starting with the rule of Ahmet III would influence the future of the Empire and cause a set of events. The reforms based on the western example were to be applied by the state, but they were proved a failure due to “traditional” groups whose interests were serious reform movements failed; however, not long after, the reforms of Mahmut II changed the fate of country and after those, the Tanzimat reforms brought an atmosphere suitable for the advancement of modernisation. Important steps were taken in regards of the modernisation of administration, military, economy and society; equality, freedom, patriotism and democracy were some of the values incorporated into the state. Eventually, together with the proclamation of a constitutional regime, the path of modernisation was paved and the Ottoman Empire caught a chance to spread modernisation to a wider area than ever before in its history. The development of education, especially during the second constitutional period, caused modernisation to spread to textbooks. The Ottoman History textbooks written during this period explain us the way the Empire perceived itself and give us important hints about the history of modernisation in the Ottoman Empire. | en_US |
