In this paper, a corpus was constructed for the purpose of determining the degree of synonymity among the words "gönül", "yürek" and "kalp" by scanning the texts in Old Turkic, Qarahanli, Harezm and Old Anatolian, Ottoman and Republician Turkish. The examples compiled from texts were assessed using the compliance analysis in line with Partington and Firth's considerations about connotations. The analysis prescribes that connotations have a part of their real meaning. When these texts were examined, it was seen that each of these three words could be used interchangeably. "Kalp" which became widespread in the last years of Old Anatolian Turkish entered into semantic fields of both "gönül" and "yürek" by extending its field of use.en_US
