Özet
Raw materials such as silicon sand, marble, dolomite, carbonated water and feldspar have. been used in the production of glass, in general. The metal oxides (lead, chromium and iron oxides), silver and glass being ground glass, are used in the production of glass at special conditions. The organisation of glass industry in Turkey began in the period of the Ottoman Empire. The Pasabahce Glass industry located in the Kirklareli province has the largest share in glass production in Turkey. Turkey is of the first five countries in glass production worldwide. The glass industry is producing window glass, glassware, automobile and laboratory glass. The share of the glass industry, as a constituent of the natural industry, is large from the point of view of export and commerce. The geodesic position (coordinates) of dolomite beds, which are an important raw material of glass production, has been the main object of the present study. The geological structure of terrestrial where dolomite beds are located in has been studied, too. The dolomite beds are located in the Istranca's foot of the Thrace region. The hand GPS instrument (receiver) has been used at the determination of geodesic position of dolomite beds. The knowledge about production quantity has been assured from the organisation that is using dolomite and they have been utilised.
