The seed set by self fertility of hybrid sunflower cultivars (Helianthus annuus L.) have to high values for seed production. Because it has to guarantee the important parts of seed yields in high temperature, moisture and rainy climatic conditions which cause poor insect especially honeybee population. In this study, widespread growing 8 hybrid sunflower cultivars (Teknosol, Pioneer 4028, Sanbro, Vanko, Isera, Tressor, Pioneer 4223 ve Sanay) in seed production were investigated for their self fertility status. The research was conducted in 2003 and 2004 in Tekirdag. As the results, self fertilization ratios of the cultivars were changed between 13.11-74.70 %. The results showed that some of the sunflower cultivars have very low seed set by self fertilization, and it may be important seed yield lost for growers in sunflower production with insufficient insect population by adverse climatic conditions.en_US
