Hayranlık uyandıran armonizasyon, tematik işlemeler, melodi yaratmadaki dehası kendine has uygulama şekliyle onu müzik tarihinde özel bir yere taşımaktadır. Bu araştırmada Rachmaninoff’un Op.3, Op.23 ve Op.32 serilerinde yazmış olduğu yirmi dört prelüdün icrasına katkı sağlamak ve kaynak oluşturmak amacıyla, hayatı ve hayatında müziğini farklı boyutlara taşıyan kırılma noktaları, müzikal anlayışı, bestelerinde esinlendiği unsurlar incelenmiş, piyano için bestelediği yirmi dört prelüdün tüm bunlardan izler taşıdığı ve yapı açısından küçük formda olmalarına rağmen virtüöziteyi göstermenin, enstrümanın sınırlarını keşfetmenin ve yeni fikirler geliştirmenin zemin bulacağı eserler oldukları görülmüştür. Rachmaninoff, prelüdleri farklı zamanlarda, toplamda 18 yıllık bir süreçte bestelemiştir. Birçok etkileyici eserinin yanı sıra Rachmaninoff’un prelüdleri icrası en çok tercih edilen eserler arasındadır. Teknik zorlukların yanı sıra karmaşık el koordinasyonu ve pedal kullanımı içermelerine rağmen doğru icra edildiklerinde eserler birer başyapıta dönüşmektedir.

Sergei Rachmaninoff, one of the greatest composers of the 20th century, was also a pianist at the same time and evinced his mastery undeniably in his works written for the piano. The pieces that he composed with his virtuosity have great challenges in technical, tonal, harmonic and rhythmic aspects. He has a unique place in the history of music, with his own unique application, admiring harmonization, thematic processes, and his mastermind in creating melodies. In this research, in order to resource and contribute to the performance of the twenty four preludes which Rachmaninoff wrote in Op.3, Op.23 and Op.32 series; his musical understanding, breakpoints that brings his music into different positions of life and the elements that he inspired in his compositions were examined. It was obviously seen that twenty-four preludes had traces from all of them, and although they were in a small form in terms of structure, they were virtuosic and they can form a basis to discover the boundaries of the instrument and to develop new ideas. Rachmaninoff composes the preludes at different times, in a total of 18 years period. Among his many impressive works, Rachmaninoff's preludes are among the most preferred works to be performed. In addition to technical difficulties, although they involve complex hand coordination and pedal use, works are transformed into masterpieces when they are performed properly.
