The preservation of historical buildings, which are cultural heritage, is essential. They reflect the level of civilization of their time period, in terms of material characteristics, construction techniques and architectural elements. They shouldn’t be abandoned to their fate, since they can bring in new dimensions to society, in terms of economic, social and cultural aspects. During the repair and strengthening of these structures, modifications should be kept minimal and the original form should be protected. Repair and strengthening process of historical buildings is discussed in the example of “Edirne Old Electricity Factory.” The current state of the soil, load bearing system, damage types and locations are examined. The historical building was modeled with ANSYS- R16.2 software. Static and dynamic analyses were conducted. According to the results of the numerical analysis, repair and strengthening suggestions that should be applied during the restoration phase are presented, considering existing and potential damages. The historical building was repaired and strengthened according to the recommendations. It is aimed that the study will guide the repair and/ or strengthening works of the historical buildings to be built in the future. © 2023 Peter Lang GmbH, Internationaler Verlag der Wissenschaften.en_US
