Aim. Symptomatic steal syndrome is a rare complication of native arteriovenous fistulas. We used the banding technique under brachial and radial artery pressure control. Methods. We included 21 patients operated between January 2008 and January 2011 with banding by a polytetrafluoroethylene graft combined with pressure measurement from distal arterial structures. Patients were followed up in our outpatient clinic at 1 month, 3 months and 6 months after surgery. Results. Eight were male and 13 were female, mean age was 62 (21-75). At first month controls, 4 (19%) patients complained pain during dialysis. They were re-operated for re-banding. Of these 4 patients reoperated, complaints releived in 3 patients and thrombosis developed in 1 patient postoperatively. Patency rate was 90.5% (19/21) and symptomatic relief was 76.2% (16/21). Conclusion. We achieved satisfactory results with pressure monitorization assisted banding in hemodialysis access induced distal ischemia patients with no significant stenosis in distal arterial structures.en_US
