dc.description.abstractThe Meric river basin has been exposed to the flood in winter season in the Thrace region. The flood waters and alluvium, which are brought by the flood, cover agricultural fields and these factors affect the composition of the field soil. A map scale is taken into consideration for determining the positions of the fields and areas by geodesic ground control points. This work is based on determining the positions of the flood fields. The points concerning the flood track are taken into consideration for determining the positions of the flood fields. The heights of the points concerning the flood track have been obtained by geometric levelling from known traverse heights. The horizontal coordinates of the points concerning the flood tracks have been measured by a hand GPS instrument (receiver). The soil samples taken from fields, which were not affected by the flood and also which were affected from the flood, have been analysed in various flood fields in the Thrace region. The positions of the flood fields are shown at a map which is scaled 1/25 000, at works done by DSI (The State Water Supply Administration) technical stuff. The results obtained from analysis of the soil examples have been utilised.en_US
