Identity is the way of defining an entity with different features such as visual perception, past information, and behavioral patterns. Urban Identity, on the other hand, is the integrity formed by the determinants that differs the city from others. Designs, to be made by investigating the identity of city or part of the city, will be designs that belong to the place, exist for the place. According to this view, first the concept of identity was explained in the study, the use and importance of identity in design was specified, identity components, which are the main subject of the study, were defined item by item and evaluated through examples. After the environmental and social components are cited in this way, the human factor, the cornerstone of society, was detailed. The study differentiates from other similar studies in that it focuses on the human influence on urban identity. It is thought that the study will be beneficial on identity-based studies in terms of both providing a theoretical background and presenting current topic recommendations. © Peter Lang GmbH Internationaler Verlag der Wissenschaften Berlin 2021 All rights reserved.en_US
