Özet
Duygusal zeka gün geçtikçe hem iş hem sosyal hayatımızda daha da önem kazanmaktadır. Sağlık çalışanlarının duygusal zeka becerilerinin gelişmiş olması beklenmektedir. Çalışmamızda Trakya Üniversitesi Tıp fakültesi son sınıf öğrencilerinin duygusal zeka düzeylerini belirlemek ve ilişkili faktörleri değerlendirmek amaçlanmıştır. Çalışmanın evrenini Trakya Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesinde öğrenim gören 247 son sınıf öğrencisi oluşturmaktadır. Evrenin tamamına ulaşılması hedeflenip %95,1’ine ulaşıldı. Anket tarafımızca hazırlanan sosyodemografik özellikler ile ilgili sorularla birlikte, Yaşam Kalitesi Ölçeği SF-12 (Kısa form-12) Türkçe Uyarlaması, Stresle Başa çıkma Tarzları Ölçeği ve Duygusal Zeka Özelliği Ölçeği Kısa Formu olmak üzere toplam 79 sorudan oluşmaktadır. Öğrencilerin 140’ı (%59,57) kadın, 95’i (%40,43) erkektir. Öğrencilerin Duygusal Zeka Ölçeği toplam puan ortalaması 94,07±14,45 olarak saptanmıştır. Öğrencilerin duygusal zeka duygusallık alt boyut puanı tıp fakültesini ilk sırada tercih eden öğrencilerde daha yüksek bulunarak, tıp fakültesini kendi isteği ile tercih eden öğrencilerin öz kontrol, sosyallik ve toplam ölçek puanı, diğer öğrencilerden düGük bulunarak ve duygusal zeka sosyallik alt boyut puanı lise altı öğrenim durumuna sahip annesi olan öğrencilerde, diğer öğrenim durumuna sahip annesi olan öğrencilerden düşük bulunarak istatiksel olarak anlamlı ilişki saptanmıştır. Duygusal zeka arttıkça daha çok etkili stresle başa çıkma tarzlarının kullanıldığı, etkisiz başa çıkma tarzlarının ise daha az kullanıldığı sonucuna varılmıştır. Çalışmamızdan elde edilen sonuçlar doğrultusunda öğrencilerin duygusal zeka düzeylerini geliştirmek için problem çözme becerilerini içeren, duygusal zeka öğrenme ve geliştirme programlarının eğitim müfredatlarına dahil edilmesi gerekmektedir. Özellikle etkili stresle başa çıkma tarzlarını olumlu yönde geliştirebilmeleri konusunda eğitim, seminerler ve psikososyal destek verilmelidir.
Emotional intelligence is getting more and more important in both business and social life day by day. The emotional intelligence skills of healthcare professionals are expected to be improved. In our study, it is aimed to determine the emotional intelligence levels of Trakya University Faculty of Medicine intern doctors and to evaluate the associated factors. The universe of the study consists of 247 intern doctors studying at Trakya University Faculty of Medicine. It was aimed to reach the entire universe and 95.1% was reached. The questionnaire consists of 79 questions in total; along with the questions about sociodemographic characteristics formed by us, including the Turkish Version of the SF-12 (Short Form-12) Quality of Life Scale, the Stress Coping Styles Scale and the Emotional Intelligence Scale Short Form. 140 (59.57%) of the students were female and 95 (40.43%) were male. The total score average of Emotional Intelligence Scale of the students was determined as 94,07±14,45. The emotional intelligence emotionality sub-dimension score of students were found significantly higher in the students who preferred medical school in the first place, the self-control, sociality and total scale score of the students who preferred medical school voluntarily were found significantly lower than other students and the emotional intelligence sociality subdimension score of the students whose mothers had an education less than high school were found significantly lower than other students. It was concluded that as emotional intelligence increased, effective stress coping styles were used more, while ineffective coping styles were used less. As a result of our study, emotional intelligence learning and development programs including problem solving skills should be included in educational curriculums in order to improve the emotional intelligence levels of students. Particular trainings, seminars and psychosocial support should be provided in order to improve their effective coping styles in a positive way.
