dc.description.abstractİonia Bölgesi'nde bulunan Metropolis antik kenti gerek stratejik konumu, gerek sahip olduğu doğal özellikleri ile ekonomik hayatın inişleri ve çıkışlarıyla yaşandığı bir merkez olmuştur. Bu çalışma kapsamında ilk olarak Antik Çağ ekonomisinin Hellenistik ve Roma Dönemi hakkında genel bilgiler verilmiştir.Çalışmanın asıl amacı olan Metropolis'in ekonomik hayatına yönelik değerlendirmeler çalışmanın bir diğer bölümünü oluşturmuştur. Buna göre ilk olarak kentin tarihçesi hakkında bilgiler verilmiştir. Metropolis'de ele geçen ve kentin ticari hayatına ilişkin buluntular yoluyla değerlendirilmeler yapılmıştır. Buluntular arasında dikkat çekici olarak hamamda bulunan Apollonios şeref yazıtı ile Metropolisli yurttaşların isimlerinin ve bağışlarının yer aldığı diğer yazıtlar ile birlikte kentte ele geçen sikkeler sayılabilir. Kazılarda bulunan ağırlıklar ve ölçü taşı ile hamam'da bulunan define kentin ekonomisi açısından ayrıca önemlidir. Komşu kentlerle ilişkilere de son bölümde değinilmiştir.Sonuç olarak Hellenistik Dönem'de refah düzeyi yüksek bir kent olan Metropolis'in bu istikrarının Roma Dönemi'nde de devam ettiği görülür. Kentin Ephesos-Smyrna bağlantı yolunun ortasında olması ekonomik yönden gelişimini sağlamıştır. Buluntuların ışığında kentte canlı bir ekonomik hayatın varlığına dair önemli sonuçlara ulaşılmıştır.en_US
dc.description.abstractThe ancient city of Metropolis, located in Ionia area, has been a center where economical ups and downs have taken place, both due to its strategic logation and its natural qualities. Firstly, general information on the economics of antiquity in the Hellenistic and Roman periods has been included in this study.İnterpretation of economics of the city of Metropolis, being the main theme of this study, has been another chapter of this research. Accordingly, information on the history of the city has been given. Interpretations have been according to the findings in Metropolis which are related to economics of the city. The Apollonios honour inscription discovered in the public baths, other inscriptions giving the names of the citizens of Metropolis and information on their donations, and coins discovered in the city are examples of remarkable findings. The weights and measuring stone recovered in excavations and the treasure found in the pubic baths are also important in terms of interpretation of the economics of the city. Relationships with neighboring cities have been mentioned in the last section.Finally, it is possible to say that the level of prosperity present in the Hellenistic period in Metropolis has also been sustained in the Roman period. Location of the city amidst the connection between Ephesos and Smyrna has assured economical improvement of the city. In the light of the findings, important evidence supporting a vivid economical life in the city has been found.en_US
