Özet
Cities have become residential areas where impermeable areas are the majority because of increasing population growth and meeting the needs it brings. Various problems arise that reduce the quality of urban life such as rapid urbanization, climate change, urban heat island effect, air pollution, accidents and traffic jam. These extremely important problems, as well as floods and raids caused by rainwater from impermeable surfaces, appear as problems that need to be solved. Green streets, an application of sustainable rainwater management approaches, are among the solutions applied. Green streets, while providing control of rainwater as the primary goal, have many positive effects such as improving air quality, reducing the urban heat island effect, creating habitats for natural landscape, flora, fauna, providing aesthetic appearance, etc. Contrary to traditional functioning, it contributes to the integration of natural systems with the built environment. © 2023 Peter Lang GmbH, Internationaler Verlag der Wissenschaften.
