Öğe A REVIEW ON WOLFGANG AMADEUS MOZART’S CONCERTO FOR THREE PIANOS(Trakya Üniversitesi, 2023) Turan, EvrimWolfgang Amadeus Mozart, considered as one of the pioneering composers in the history of music, whose works have left a significant impact on both music history and education, composed over six hundred pieces through his short thirty-five year life. Renowned for his exceptional improvisational ability and the diversity of melodies in his compositions, Mozart is universally acknowledged by music historians as the most prolific genius composer. He composed works in all musical forms, significantly influencing both his contemporaries during the Classical period and musicians and composers who lived in subsequent eras. Mozart elevated the “concerto” form to a significant position in the history of music, particularly by positioning the piano as a solo instrument of influence in front of the orchestra. While some of Mozart's early works were intended for the harpsichord, the piano, an instrument that was beginning to evolve during that period, started to gain even more importance through Mozart's compositions. Composing a total of twenty-seven piano concertos, some for two pianos and others for three pianos, Mozart enriched the orchestral accompaniment in these concertos, elevating the melodic and harmonic diversity between the solo and the orchestra to new heights. In this study, brief information is provided about Mozart's life, personality, and music, along with his piano concertos. Using the method of document analysis, his composition “Concerto for Three Pianos” written in 1776, has been examined. The concerto, consisting of three movements, has been analyzed by providing small musical examples from each section. The study focuses on how the composer utilized themes and phrase transitions between the piano parts, examines the melodic lines between the orchestra and the soloists, and explores the brief cadenzas within the sections. These analyses hold significance, particularly due to the limited recognition and performance of the concerto in our country. They provide pianists who are interested in performing the piece with the opportunity to not only understand the composition but also gain insights into Mozart's compositional style and musical language as manifested in this concerto.
