Öğe Atypical osteoid osteomas(Springer-Verlag France, 2015) Ciftdemir M.; Tuncel S.A.; Usta U.Osteoid osteoma is a very painful benign bone tumor that affects young adults. It is exceptional before 5 and after 30 years of age. It can be seen in any part of the skeleton. Presentation of the tumor may be intracortical, juxta-cortical or cancellous. In long bones, the tumor is frequently intracortical, and in the spine, it is usually located at the posterior elements. Osteoid osteomas having radiologic and clinical features other than classical presentation of osteoid osteoma are called atypical osteoid osteomas. Atypical osteoid osteomas are important because the diagnosis and treatment are often complicated in these cases. Misdiagnosis with prolonged impairment and sometimes overtreatment appears as a major problem concerning atypical osteoid osteomas. This paper gives brief general information about the classical presentation of osteoid osteoma, discusses the pathogenesis of the lesion and focuses on the clinical presentation, radiologic features and characteristics of atypical osteoid osteomas as well as their treatment modalities. © Springer-Verlag France 2013.Öğe Central neurocytoma: Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging findings(Ege University Press, 2012) Arslanoglu A.; Tuncel S.A.; Ataoglu O.; Orbay T.Central neurocytoma is a very rare intraventricular brain tumor that has a favorable prognosis. It occurs mostly in young adults and usually located in the lateral ventricles near to foramina Monro. We report the radiological findings of a case of 39-year-old woman with acute headache. A Computed Tomographic (CT) showed a mass in the midline of the lateral ventricles with extension to the foramen of Monro. The tumor was 28x38x48 mm in size. At CT, the tumor has heavy calcifications on noncontrast scans. T1-weighted magnetic resonance (MR) images, showed a tumor of mixed signal intensity. T2-weighted MR images revealed inhomogeneous signal intensity. The lesion enhanced homogeneously after administration of contrast material. The tumor was attached to the septum pellucidum and to the lateral walls of the lateral ventricles. Tumor totally resected, histopathologic sections of the lesion was reported as Central neurocytoma. Postoperative period was good. Central neurocytoma should be included in the differential diagnosis of intraventricular brain tumors like oligodendroglioma, choroids plexus papilloma, ependymoma, subependymoma, subependymal giant cell astrocytoma, and meningioma.Öğe Hemobilia and occult cystic artery stump bleeding after a laparoscopic cholecystectomy: endovascular treatment with N-butyl cyanoacrylate.(2011) Cagli B.; Tuncel S.A.; Sengul E.; Temizoz O.; Unlu E.; Genchellac H.; Ozdemir H.Hemobilia is a rare phenomenon. In this case report we present an emergent transcatheter glue embolization (in which N-butyl cyanoacrylate is used as an embolizing agent) due to arteriobilary fistula occurred following the laparoscopic cholecystectomy in a 41-year-old woman.Öğe Segmental costovertebral anomaly presenting with horn-like appearance in the chest.(2010) Cagli B.; Unlu E.; Tuncel S.A.; Temizoz O.; Genchellac H.Several types of abnormalities of the ribs have been reported. Many of these anomalies usually result in the correct diagnosis thanks to the characteristic radiological appearances. But some of the anomalies are rare and it is important to recognize and get accustomed to differing appearances of these osseous abnormalities in order to differentiate the pathological processes and to diagnose the syndromes which may accompany rib anomalies. The localized costovertebral anomaly with horn-like appearance, which has not yet been described in literature, is presented in this paper.
