The first observation of the species in Turkey dates back to 1995 with two females obtained from the provinces of Gaziantep (Sehitkamil-Aktoprak) and Adana (Pozanti-Burucek Plateau). These two localities are situated inside the part of the Mediterranean region along the Syrian border. Females of the species, whose original description was based on males, are described here for the first time. A map showing the collecting localities and photographs of the female specimens are given.Öğe İzmir ve Manisa İlleri ekolojik kiraz bahçelerinden toplanan thyatırıdae, papilionidae, pieridae, nymphalidae ve satyridae (Lepidoptera) familyalarına bağlı türler üzerinde bir değerlendirme(2004) Tezcan, Serdar; Okyar, Zühalİzmir ve Manisa’daki ekolojik kiraz (Prunus avium Linnaeus) bahçelerinde 1998 ve 1999 yıllarında yü-rütülen bu çalışmada besin ve sarı yapışkan görsel tuzaklarla Thyatiridae, Papilionidae, Pieridae, Nymphalidae ve Satyridae familyalarına bağlı 13 tür saptanmıştır. Bu türler Heüothis peltigera (Denis & Schiffermüller, 1775), Trichoplusia ni (Hübner, 1803) ve Macdunnoughia confusa (Stephens, 1850) 'dır.Öğe Parallel colour/pattern polymorphism in three sympatric spittlebug species (Philaenus spumarius, P. signatus and Mesoptyelus impictifrons) (Hemiptera: Aphrophoridae) in Mediterranean Turkiye(Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2023) Tanyeri, Rukiye; Yurtsever, Selcuk; Tezcan, SerdarParallel colour/pattern polymorphism has been reported in the three sympatric spittlebug species Philaenus spumarius, P. signatus and Mesoptyelus impictifrons in the Mediterranean region of Turkiye. In our study, the colour phenotypes POP (populi) and TYP (typicus) are shared by all three species, whereas the phenotypes MEL (melanocephalus), PRA (praeustus) and LCE (leucocephalus) were found only in M. impictifrons. MAR (marginellus), FLA (flavicollis) and LOP (leucophthalmus) were found only in P. signatus, and TRI (trilineatus) and LAT (lateralis) were found only in P. spumarius. In combination with previous results, we show that P. spumarius and P. signatus share all eight common phenotypes except for LAT. The genetic basis of this polymorphism is well understood only for P. spumarius, yet the evolutionary strategies governing this phenomenon found in both sympatric and allopatric populations of the three species remain unknown. As the same visible elytral colour/pattern morphs occur in all three species, it will be interesting to investigate the genetic bases of these polymorphisms with further laboratory crossbreeding experiments.Öğe A review of the tribe Halyini in Turkey (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Pentatomidae) with two new records: Apodiphus integriceps and Mustha vicina(Gazi Entomological Research Soc, 2010) Fent, Meral; Dursun, Ahmet; Karsavuran, Yusuf; Tezcan, Serdar; Demirozer, OzanThe tribe Halyini Amyot & Serville, 1843 (Hemiptera: Heteroptera: Pentatomidae) which has been represented in Turkey so far by 6 species from 3 genera is reviewed and identification keys, morphological figures and the distributional patterns in Turkey and Palaearctic region of the formerly determined species (Carenoplistus acutus (Signoret, 1880), Apodiphus amygdali (Germar, 1817), Mustha spinosula (Lefebvre, 1831), M. longispinis Reuter, 1890, M. izmirensis Memon & Ahmad, 2008) as well as of two new records (Apodiphus integriceps Horvath, 1888 and Mustha vicina Hoberlandt, 1997) are given. The possibility of introduction of A. integriceps to Turkey with plant saplings and thus its alien status is discussed. Previously recorded M. incana Stal, 1876 in Turkish Heteroptera fauna is proved to be actually M. vicina and therefore M. incana is excluded from the faunal list of the Turkish Heteroptera. Furthermore, the distribution of the tribe Halyini in Turkey was presented by ascertaining the exact identification of some species given with wrong information in previous studies.Öğe Three new species of ants (genus Aphaenogaster, Hymenoptera: Formicidae) from Turkey(Versita, 2008) Kiran, Kadri; Aktac, Nihat; Tezcan, SerdarThree new species of the ant genus Aphaenogaster (A. aktaci sp. n., A. maculifrons sp. n., A. radchenkoi sp. n.) are described from Turkey and their taxonomic positions are discussed. Aphaenogaster aktaci sp. n. belongs to the obsidiana group, A. maculifrons sp. n. to subterranea group and A. radchenkoi sp. n. to pallida group of the Attomyrma subgenus. Key characteristics for identification of the species and data on their ecology are given.
