Öğe Essential oil characterization of Cousinia sivasica Hub.-Mor. (Asteraceae)(2018) Tekin, Mehmet; Özek, Gülmira; Martin, Esra; Özek, Temel; Yılmaz, Gülden; Başer, Kemal Hüsnü CanIn this study, essential oil properties of an endemic plant of Turkey, Coucinia sivasica Hub.-Mor. were studiedfor the first time. Essential oil of C. sivasica was obtained by using Clevenger apparatus with hydrodistillationtechnique. The essential oil was analyzed by GC-FID and GC/MS techniques on a polar column and total 44compounds were identified representing 98.3%. Fatty acids, their esters, methyl-branched carboxylic acids and aromaticacid esters predominated (66.3%) in the oil with hexadecanoic acid (42.8%), 1-isobutyl 4-isopropyl 3-isopropyl-2,2-dimethyl succinate (12.2%) and methyl salicylate (7.1%) as major constituents.Öğe Karyology of endemic Matthiola anchoniifolia Hub. -Mor. (Brassicaceae) in Turkey(Firenze Univ Press, 2013) Martin, Esra; Yilmaz, Gulden; Tekin, MehmetIn this paper, the karyological properties of an endemic plant for Turkey, Matthiola anchoniifolia Hub.-Mor. grown in the Sivas Province in Turkey, are studied. Karyotype was made on somatic metaphases using an Image Analysis System. The somatic chromosome number is determined as 2n = 12. The karyotype formula of this species consists of five median chromosome pairs and one submedian chromosome pair. The shortest chromosome length is 4.89 mu m, the longest is 9.18 mu m, and haploid chromosome length is 38.66 mu m. Photographs were taken using a BX51 Olympus microscope. An ideogram of the species was drawn using an Image Analysis System.Öğe Karyotype Analysis of Silene muradica Schischk. (Caryophyllaceae), an Endemic Species in Turkey(2019) Martin, Esra; Tekin, Mehmet; Dirlik, Gülsenin Miray; Türk, MuhammetIn this research the mitotic metaphase chromosome number and karyotype of Silene muradica Schischk. which is endemic species and growing naturally in Turkey, were studied for the first time. The diploid chromosome study was conducted using squash preparation method. The study revealed that the chromosome number of S. muradica is 2n = 24. The basic chromosome number of species is determined as x = 12. The karyotype formula of S. muradica is found as 12m. The total length of the somatic chromosomes of S. muradica ranges between 1.50 ?m - 2.77 ?m. The total haploid chromosome length of S. muradica is measured as 25.12 ?m. The chromosome morphology and ideogram are made using Image Analysis System (Bs200ProP).Öğe Morphology, anatomy and karyology of endangered Turkish endemic Physoptychis haussknechtii Bornm. (Brassicaceae) from Central Anatolia(Univ Zagreb, Fac Science, Div Biology, 2017) Tekin, Mehmet; Martin, EsraIn this study, the morphology, anatomy, pollen morphology, leaf and seed micromorphology and karyology of the Turkish endangered endemic Physoptychis haussknechtii were investigated in detail for the first time. The species was studied in terms of detailed morphology. Basal leaves are narrowly spatulate and cauline leaves are linear to oblanceolate; both leaves are covered with flattened stalked five-armed trichomes. Raceme length was found to be up to 6 cm and 9 cm in the flowering and fruiting stages, respectively. Sepals are linear-oblong, rarely elliptic with obtuse to subacute apex. Petals are spatulate with emarginate apex. Some morphological characteristics such as dimensions of cauline leaves and ovary and length of pistil were measured for the first time. In an anatomical study, root, stem, basal leaf and cauline leaf were examined. The anatomical results showed that the plants have secondary growth in roots, primary growth in stems, amphistomatic and equifacial basal and cauline leaves with anisocytic stomata. Pollen grains are radial symmetrical, isopolar and tricolpate. The ratio of polar axis to equatorial diameter is 1.16, and pollen shape is subprolate. Exine sculpturing is reticulate under light microscope and scanning electron microscope. Seeds are obovate-suborbicular, compressed and pale brown. The chromosome number of P. haussknechtii was defined to be 2n=16. The karyotype formula of P. haussknechtii consists of five metacentric chromosome pairs and three submetacentric chromosome pairs.
