Öğe 2,3-Dichloronaphthoquinone derivatives: Synthesis, antimicrobial activity, molecular modelling and ADMET studies(Academic Press Inc Elsevier Science, 2024) Kolancilar, Hakan; Ozcan, Hafize; Yilmaz, Ays en uekinci; Salan, Alparslan Semih; Ece, AbdulilahIn the present study, an intermediate namely 2-(3-bromopropylamino)-3-chloronaphthalene-1,4-dione was initially synthesized via the nucleophilic addition-elimination reaction between 2,3-dichloro-1,4-naphthoquinone and 3-bromo-1-aminopropane. Then a coupling reaction between the intermediate and piperazine derivatives yielded a number of 1,4-naphthoquinone derivatives. Spectroscopic analysis successfully characterized the products that were obtained in good yields. In vitro antibacterial properties of the compounds were examined against different bacterial strains. In vitro antibacterial properties of the compounds were examined against the bacterial strains S. Aureus, E. Faecalis, E. Coli and P. Aeruginosa. While compound 9 was found to be effective against all bacterial strains used, compound 12 was active against three strains and compounds 10 and 11 were effective against the two. None of the compounds are effective against C. albicans strain. In silico molecular docking studies revealed that all compounds had docking scores comparable to the antibacterial drugs ciprofloxacin and gentamicin and might be considered as DNA gyrase B inhibitors. Molecular dynamics simulations were also conducted for a better understanding of the stability and the selected docked complexes. Additionally, the drug similarity of the synthesized compounds and ADMET characteristics were examined in conjunction with the antibiotic ciprofloxacin, and drug potentials were then evaluated. Compatible predictions were found with the drug similarity and ADMET parameters.Öğe Adsorption of Remazol Brilliant Blue R on activated carbon prepared from a pine cone(Taylor & Francis Ltd, 2012) Gecgel, Unal; Kolancilar, HakanIn this work the activated pine cone was investigated as adsorbent to remove Remazol Brilliant Blue R from aqueous solution. The effects of various experimental parameters such as initial dye concentration, contact time, temperature, adsorbent dose and pH were examined. The adsorption of Remazol Brilliant Blue R from aqueous solution was increased with the increase in initial dye concentration, contact time, temperature, adsorbent dose but decreased with the increase in the pH. The results in this study indicated that the activated pine cone was an attractive candidate for removing Remazol Brilliant Blue R.Öğe Adsorptive Removal of Rhodamine B with Activated Carbon Obtained from Okra Wastes(Taylor & Francis Inc, 2017) Uner, Osman; Gecgel, UEnal; Kolancilar, Hakan; Bayrak, YukselThis study aimed at preparing and optimizing an activated carbon (OAC) obtained from dry okra wastes by chemical activation with zinc chloride. Also, Rhodamine B removal performance from aqueous solution was analyzed by using this optimized activated carbon. The characterization of the resultant activated carbon, with a high surface area of 1044m(2)/g, was carried out using thermogravimetric analysis, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller model, t-plot, N-2 adsorption/desorption isotherms, density functional theory, elemental analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and the point of zero charge. Furthermore, the effects of operating conditions (contact time, initial concentration, adsorbent dosage, temperature, and pH) on Rhodamine B adsorption onto OAC were investigated. Langmuir model was determined to be the best adsorption process, and the maximum adsorption capacity was calculated to be 321.50mg/g at 25 degrees C. Also, the intraparticle diffusion and boundary layer diffusion were involved in RhB adsorption onto OAC. Moreover, OAC adsorption curves of Rhodamine B followed pseudo second-order model. At 25 degrees C, Gibbs free energy, enthalpy, and entropy obtained from thermodynamic studies were determined to be -27.87kJ/mol, 13.03kJ/mol, and 0.15kJ/mol K, respectively. These thermodynamic values revealed that Rhodamine B adsorption onto OAC was feasible, endothermic, physical, and spontaneous.Öğe The electropolymerization of N,N-(propane-1,3-diyl)bis(2-aminobenzamide), characterization, and capacitor study(Sage Publications Ltd, 2018) Ates, Murat; Kolancilar, Hakan; Caliskan, Sinan; Cinar, DamlaIn this study, aniline-based monomer, N,N-(propane-1,3-diyl)bis(2-aminobenzamide), (PAB), was synthesized and characterized by proton nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR), carbon-13 nuclear magnetic resonance (13C-NMR), and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. The electropolymerization of the monomer was performed on glassy carbon electrode by cyclic voltammetry (CV). The effects of solvent, dopant, scan number, and scan rate on the electropolymerization and properties of the poly(PAB) films were investigated. The modified electrode was also characterized by Fourier transform infrared-attenuated total reflection spectroscopy and scanning electron microscopy-energy-dispersive X-ray analysis. The capacitive properties of the poly(PAB) films were firstly tested by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The highest specific capacitances (C-sp) of poly(PAB) films were obtained as C-sp = 6.22 mF cm(-2) in 0.1 M lithium perchlorate/acetonitrile (ACN) for [PAB]0 = 20 mmol dm(-3) and C-sp = 16.9 mF cm(-2) in 1 mol dm(-3) sulfuric acid for [PAB]0 = 5 mmol dm(-3) at the scan rate of 5 mV s(-1) from CV measurements. This study is novel because it was the first study on capacitance performances of poly(PAB) films in the literature.Öğe Removal of Cu(II) Ions from Aqueous Solutions by the Activated Carbon Obtained from Pine Cone(Asian Journal Of Chemistry, 2010) Gecgel, Unal; Sezer, Kenan; Kolancilar, HakanThe activated carbon obtained from pine cone was investigated as a new adsorbent to remove copper(II) ion from aqueous solution The adsorption process of copper(II) ion was carried Out in a hatch mode and the effects of adsorbent concentration (0 25-1 00 g/100 mL). initial pH's (2 0-6 0) and initial metal ion concentrations (25-100 mg/L) were investigated. Maximum removal capacity of the copper(II) ion from aqueous solutions was achieved at pH 5 0 Adsorption data was well fitted to the Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms. Langmuir monolayer capacity was a value of 15.05 mg/g The results in this study indicate that the activated carbon obtained from pine cone can be an effective adsorbent for removal of copper(II) ions from aqueous solutionÖğe Synthesis of 7-Hydroxy-4-methylcoumarin Using Polyaniline/Montmorillonite K10 Composite as Catalyst(Asian Journal Of Chemistry, 2010) Kolancilar, HakanThe polyaniline/montmorillonite K10 composite consisting of conducting polyaniline and montmorillonite K10 was synthesized by the intercalation. The insertion of polyaniline between the interlayer of the clay was observed by means of IR spectroscopy. The composite was used as catalyst in Pechmann reaction. The advantages of the composite are ease of preparation, recovery and simple work-up.
