    EFFECTIVE PRACTICE METHODS FOR STRENGTHENING PIANISTS’ THUMB

    Fingers forming the foundation of piano-playing skills should be sensitive, strong, and agile. The thumb, which differs anatomically from the other fingers, is strong but slow. This finger, not suitable for rapid playing, will affect the performance if not exercised correctly. In this article, effective practice methods, different exercises, and movements for strengthening pianists' thumbs are presented. The proper application of these methods will help enhance piano-playing skills and enable more controlled and expressive performances in terms of finger transitions, nuances, and sound control.

    FRYDERYK FRANCISZEK CHOPIN’İN “?YCZENIE” ADLI ŞARKISI İLE FRANZ LISZT’İN “MÄDCHENS WUNSCH” ADLI TRANSKRİPSİYONUNUN KARŞILAŞTIRMALI ÇÖZÜMLEMESİ

    On dokuzuncu yüzyılda yaşanan sosyal, ekonomik ve kültürel gelişmeler müzik alanındaki gelenekleri değiştirmiş ve yeni geleneklerin temelini atmıştır. Konservatuvarların, sahnelerin, konserlerin ve basımevlerinin çoğalması birbirinin gelişimini tetiklemiş ve parlak virtüözlerin yolunu açmıştır. Sanat merkezlerinden biri olan Paris, birçok besteci-icracıya ev sahipliği yapmıştır. Franz Liszt ve Fryderyk Franciszek Chopin bu müzisyenler arasındadır. Eserlerinin büyük bir kısmı piyano için olan Chopin’in, yayımlama amacı gütmeden yazdığı on dokuz şarkısı vardır. Eserlerin dönemin olanakları dâhilinde tanıtılması, yayılması, seslendirilmesi ve öğrenilmesi amacıyla yapılan uyarlamaların popüler olduğu on dokuzuncu yüzyılda Liszt, Chopin’in şarkıları arasından altı tanesini seçerek onları solo piyano için uyarlamıştır. Bu çalışmada, ?yczenie adlı şarkının Chopin’in yazdığı orijinal hali ile Liszt’in yaptığı Mädchens Wunsch adlı uyarlama karşılaştırmalı olarak melodik açıdan incelenmiştir.

    RHYTHMICAL ANALYSIS OF THE POLONAISES IN NOTEBOOK FOR ANNA MAGDALENA BACH

    Polonaise, one of the Polish folk dances, has shown a great development in historical process and got an important place in the repertoire of Western Classical Music. Polonaise did not stay limited to Poland. The relation between Poland and other European countries led polonaise to spread and to change with the effects of different cultures. Polonaise can be found among the compositions of German composers since the eighteenth century. In the album, which Johann Sebastian Bach presented to Anna Magdalena Bach in 1725, there are polonaises among the pieces in various forms. In these polonaises it can be seen that there are other polonaise rhythms beside the characteristic polonaise rhythm (A1a). In this research, polonaises from Notebook for Anna Magdalena Bach (BWV Anh. 117a, 117b, 119, 123, 125, 128 and 130) were analysed in rhytmical aspect.
